About Me.

Professional and Human.

Hey there! I'm Nicole Rook, and I'm so excited to welcome you to my therapy world! As a therapist, I believe in the power of human connection and the profound impact that counseling can have on our lives. With a passion for helping individuals overcome challenges and unlock their potential, I am committed to providing genuine, empathetic, and compassionate care.

I am proud to have graduated summa cum laude and hold an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from a CACREP accredited university, Liberty University. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC), which means I have undergone rigorous training and adhere to the highest ethical standards in the field. I am also a trained EMDR clinician through EMDRIA, which allows me to provide specialized care to individuals who have experienced trauma and other challenging life events. I am currently employed with Forensics Counseling Associates, where I continue to gain invaluable experience working with diverse populations.

Prior to pursuing my career as a therapist, I worked in retail management for 10 years. I felt a deep calling to make a career change to pursue a newly discovered passion for helping others through therapy. I understand the fears and uncertainties that can come with stepping into the unknown, and I am here to support you through any transitions or life changes you may be experiencing.

Drawing from my own experiences with mental health challenges and moments of feeling stuck, I am committed to helping others who may be facing similar struggles. I understand the pain of feeling like your voice doesn't matter or that you're trapped in a cycle of negativity. I believe that everyone deserves to be heard, seen, and supported on their journey, and I am here to provide a safe space for that.

My Story

I am dedicated to using evidence-based approaches to facilitate healing and growth. I believe that therapy is not just about addressing the "bad" in our lives, but also about exploring our strengths and building resilience. Therapy is a powerful tool that can benefit anyone, regardless of their background or current circumstances. My approach is warm, welcoming, and engaging, and I strive to create a genuine connection with my clients where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences with compassion and understanding. I am committed to providing a professional and collaborative therapeutic relationship, where we work together to identify your goals and create a plan tailored to your unique needs.

At times, if you participate in a Telehealth video call, you may notice unexpected guests joining us on-screen – none other than my two cats, Gwen and Phoebe!

While I do my best to maintain a professional atmosphere, Gwen and Phoebe are masters of crashing telehealth sessions with their undeniable cuteness and curious antics. They might pop up to supervise our therapeutic progress or provide some purrfect comic relief during intense moments.

You'll quickly learn that Gwen and Phoebe are certified emotional support furballs, equipped with fluffy ears ready to listen non-judgmentally. They've been known to steal the spotlight briefly, reminding us not to take life too seriously and to find joy in the little things.

I understand if you prefer a cat-free therapy zone – just let me know, and I'll whisk them away to a different room. But, be warned, they might leave a furry paw print on your heart!

If you're feeling stuck, lost, or overwhelmed, know that you are not alone. Your pain matters, and I am committed to helping you on your journey. I am truly honored to be on this journey with my clients, and I am dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centered, and evidence-based therapy to support my client’s growth and well-being. If you're ready to take that first step towards positive change, I'm here to walk alongside you.
